COVID is a major concern for the people of the Pine Ridge Reservation. The tribe is taking the issue seriously and has decided to limit outside visitors to the reservation at this time. We are hopeful to be able to welcome groups back starting in summer of 2022. Currently all visitors are required to be vaccinated. We are working with the tribe to finalize all requirements for our groups. Start planning your immersion now.
Since last fall we have been using the lower level of the center as a Day Shelter. We open 7 days a week to provide a safe warm place with Hot Coffee, Showers, and laundry. We are working with the guest to find longer range solutions.
We currently offer sandwiches, hot food, and diapers out of the center. We are bringing snacks and activities to the kids who participate in our Kid's Time Program. Are bringing the Kid's a meal once a week. The members of the
Lakota Job Corp are hard at work running the new Kid's time program and the teenage programs and keeping the center looking beautiful.
We now offer a program for teens and young adults in the remodeled basement of the center. This group meets on Friday and Saturdays addressing the issues that affect the people of the reservation. (Because of the elevated level of COVID on the reservation all in person meetings at the center are on hold.)
We are offering worship to the community at 11:00 am Sundays at the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church and Makasan Church in Oglala at 1:30 pm
The Energy Assistance Matching Program is over for the season.
