What are people saying about an immersion?
“Oakbrook Church’s immersion trip to Pine Ridge was outstanding in every way. It was educational, eye-opening, challenging, and powerfully moving all at the same time. I felt like my own spirituality was deepened as I learned about Lakota spirituality. We met so many amazing people — Pastor Dan, Tony, Virgil, Jamie, etc. Oakbrook Church will definitely return to the PRRC.”
Since the fall of 2021, we have been using the lower level of the center as a Day Shelter. We are open 7 days a week to provide a safe warm place with Food, Coffee, Showers, and laundry. Additionally, with our partner Iglutheca we run the night shelter in Pine Ridge. We are working with the guests to find long-term solutions.
We currently offer sandwiches, hot food, and diapers out of the center. The kids' program is working 5 days a week. The members of the Lakota Job Corp are hard at work running the new Kid's Time program and the teenage programs and keeping the center looking beautiful.
The Energy Assistance Matching Program started up again in December. Your support is appreciated. In 2022-2023, thanks to you, we helped 352 families and 1500+ people.
Pastor Dan has a blog that he updates regularly discussing various aspects of life on the reservation. You are invited to check it out here: PastorDaninSouthDakota – Life on the reservation
